Scores of angry people gathered at the local town hall last Thursday to discuss the goings-on at Lossiemouth’s Silver Sands caravan park - a popular resort on the Moray Firth. It appears that many of the caravans have been sold “several times over” leaving those involved with losses of up to £10,000 and tense confrontations as people try to gain access to units they genuinely believe are theirs.

New figures out this week have shown a steep incline in unemployment levels in some of Britains once thriving seaside resorts.
Included in the worst hit leaderboard are BHP HQ neighbours Clacton-on-Sea and Southend, both located on the Essex coastline, which have each seen unemployment figures soar by over 70% since last summer. It’s a worrying time for anyone living in these areas, especially school leavers. We asked a local known as Adam what he thought of the situation:

Today was supposed to be one of the hottest days of the year so far, with the Met Office predicting some 30 degrees of the celsius where BHP HQ is located. Well, I can safely say that it didn’t reach anywhere near that kind of temperature, I would hazard a guess at it faring little more than 25 degrees at a push.

You may have seen the new Channel 4 series entitled How The Other Half Live already, but if not you missed a great episode last night. It featured non-other than industry bigwig and Park Holidays UK (PHUK?) owner Peter Bull, and just goes to show the sort of wedge the holiday parks are raking in day in day out. He’s said to be personally worth upwards of £40m.

UK family holiday giant Butlins has announced the imminent opening of it’s new £20m hotel aimed almost exclusively at the under 16s.
The company, started by Billy Butlin back in 1936, will install innovative features at the new Bognor Regis hotel such as the countries first snow cave, disco lifts and even singing showers. The team here at BHP can think of a few Mums and Dads that would probably enjoy the attractions just as much - if not more - than the kids!
