The Red Arrows Display TeamPopular seaside town Clacton-on-Sea is enjoying it’s 18th annual Air Show this Thursday/Friday and with some 120,000 visitors expected, local shopkeepers and beach-front vendors are anticipating a bumper trade.

Stars of the show will likely be the world-renowned RAF Red Arrows display team, who will perform aerial stunts with pinpoint accuracy in the sky above the heads of an eager crowd.

Clacton has had a steadily declining tourism trade ever since the closure of its Butlins holiday park way back in 1984 despite there still being two very popular caravan parks in the area - namely Highfields and Valley Farm. Sadly though, they have never drawn the number of visitors that were seen back in the towns Butlins-fuelled heyday.

The recent regeneration of Clacton Pier has sparked a mini-revival of the seafront with newly added rides and slew of fresh concessions such as the tasty Crepe & Waffle Company. The Piers new owners have also re-opened the once popular Cockney Pride pub - with a twist however as it is now named The Boardwalk Bar and has much more contemporary interior and upmarket atmosphere due to its large leather sofas and authentic italian coffee bar.

If you’re in the area, you’ll no doubt see and hear the numerous flyby’s by some of the worlds fastest (and noisiest!) jet engines as they woo the crowds eager for an ear-drum battering!
