Colwyn Bay RevampThe much anticipated Colwyn Bay ravamp outline has gone on public display by Conwyn County Borough Council. The Bay Life programme includes coastal defences, a sports centre aimed at excellence and the relocation of council offices to the towns centre.

A spokesperson for Conwy council had this to say:

“We believe these three initiatives will be a catalyst to drive investment and improvement.”

Locals have long been vocal about the much-needed regeneration of the seafront and are obviously ecstatic that plans have finally been brought forward. Angie Smith who has lived in the town for over 50 years said the proposed revamp is a “life saver” for the struggling seaside resort, adding that “having lived here most of my life” that she had seen the “steady decline in tourism over the years”.

The recent decision by north Wales rugby side Gogledd Cymru to play at Parc Eirias means it was an easy decision to base the centre of sporting excellence there too. While the existing council offices are likely to become a landmark hotel, further reiterating the commitment to the uk holiday trade.

Members of the public are prompted to comment on the proposed scheme with copies of the documents available online at the programmes dedicated website.
